Willing Workers on Organic Farms (WWOOF) in New Zealand
Unfortunately, a foreign national cannot be granted a visa to undertake work in WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) in New Zealand.
Participating in a WWOOF exchange, or other similar arrangement, is considered paid work under Immigration Instructions because participants are receiving something valuable (food and accommodation) in exchange for their work.
This work does not meet the minimum requirements for the grant of a work visa because the payment participants would be receiving for their work (food and accommodation) does not meet New Zealand minimum wage legislation (refer to Section W2.10 of our Operations Manual for more information).
The only way to participate in WWOOF in New Zealand is if the participant already holds an 'open' work visa, such as a Working Holiday Visa.
